Ferrari and Qualcomm team up for tech projects

News Synopsis

Ferrari is partnering up with Qualcomm Technologies (QCOM.O) to use SanDiego's premium product, the Snapdragon chipset, to accelerate the digital transformation of sports car manufacturers. 

The deal will cover both road cars and  Formula 1 teams, and the first joint projects, including the so-called digital cockpit, have been identified, the Italian group said in a statement. 

The CEO of Ferrari, Benedetto Vigna has said in November that the company would seek technology partnership as it moves ahead with the transition towards cleaner mobility and in order to pivot technologies that require high investments. 

He further said that innovation requires market leaders to work together. The company would be able to expand its knowledge in digital technologies and web 3.0 areas with great potential for automotive and motorsport.

The Snapdragon logo that will debut on the F175 racing car, Ferrari's single-seater will be unveiled at the company's headquarters in Maranello on February 17.
