News Synopsis

A former Facebook employee was said to have informed US authorities that the company prioritizes profitability over removing harmful information, just weeks after another whistleblower stoked the company's newest crisis with identical accusations. The new Facebook whistleblower has filed an SEC complaint alleging that the corporation allowed illicit behavior such as illegal drug sales to take place within private Facebook Groups.

According to an unnamed whistleblower who filed an affidavit with the Securities and Exchange Commission and gave papers to the Washington Post, Facebook's invite-only communities were inadequately supervised, allowing for horrifying and abnormal conduct. According to the Washington Post, the latest whistleblower is a former employee of Facebook's Integrity team.

Frances Haugen and Sophie Zhang, two previous whistleblowers, worked on Facebook's civic integrity and authenticity teams, where they focused on elections and networks of false accounts. Former Facebook employee Frances Haugen published internal papers revealing the business was aware of possible harm generated by its platforms, causing US politicians to resume their quest for legislation.
