News Synopsis

Recently, the Chief Executive Officer of Tesla Elon Musk told reporters that he's not concerned about Twitter employees quitting the microblogging platform over his acquisition. Musk is set to take over the social media company for $44 billion, which is currently subjected to shareholder and regulatory approval. Reuters reported that Musk said this when he was asked about a potential exodus of employees while on the red carpet at the Met Gala on Monday. According to Reuters, Musk said, “It's a free country. Certainly, if anyone doesn't feel comfortable with that, they will on their own accord, go somewhere else. That's fine.”

On Monday, in a filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission, the popular microblogging platform said that one of the risks associated with Musk's planned acquisition was a potential mass resignation of the employees. In the filing, Twitter wrote, "We may experience a departure of employees, prior to the closing of the merger.” A former executive of Twitter further informed since Musk's acquisition of Twitter, they were being contacted regularly by the staff of Twitter enquiring about job opportunities. The former executive said, "Any sense that an exodus is building is correct."
