News Synopsis

For the employees of his companies, Elon Musk plans to build hundreds of homes in Texas. The Austin Business Journal published a report about the "Project Amazing" development in Bastrop County, Austin, which is close to The Boring Company's facilities.

Mel Hamner, the Bastrop County commissioner, announced at a meeting last month that Florida-based home builder Lennar and Musk's tunnel construction company would collaborate to create a first phase of 110 homes close to the company's headquarters.

According to county records, the development contains streets with names like Porpoise Place, Cutterhead Crossing, Boring Boulevard, and Waterjet Way. When construction would start is unclear.

Online documents show that Gappes Bass LLC, a company connected to The Boring Company, is the land's owner. A representative for Gapped Bass is Adam Pashaian, a corporate controller for the Boring Company.

Additionally, Austin is home to a Tesla gigafactory that, according to Musk in late 2021, may eventually employ up to 20,000 people. It's also anticipated that SpaceX would build a factory nearby.

Therealdeal.com reported earlier this month that according to Hamner, the local home affordability situation was acute.

According to the source, "That's part of why The Boring Company is building housing for their workers, so they can afford to be living somewhere close to their facilities,"

The president of Austin's Tesla Owners' Club and real estate realtor Matt Holm told Insider that many more homes would be required for Musk's employees.

Lennar promotes 3D-printed homes on its website, and Holm said that the Austin development might make use of the technique.

When contacted The Boring Company, Lennar, and Bastrop County for comment after regular business hours, none of them responded.
