News Synopsis

After saying in December that he would step down as CEO only when he found a suitable replacement, Twitter owner Elon Musk said on Wednesday that he expected to find a new chief executive officer for the microblogging site by the end of the year.

Musk, speaking virtually on the last day of the World Government Summit in Dubai, said, "I'm guessing probably towards the end of this year would be good timing to find someone else to run the company,"

During a 30-minute conversation, the tycoon added, "I think I need to stabilise the organisation and just make sure it's in a financially healthy place and that the product roadmap is clearly laid out,"  When he found a successor, Musk announced in December that he would step down as CEO. "I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job!

He tweeted "After that, I will just run the software & servers teams,". Since Musk acquired Twitter last year and promised changes to the social media platform, some UN officials have expressed concern that Musk's new strategy may make it harder to fight fake news and hate speech.

During his speech in Dubai, Musk also discussed artificial intelligence, calling it  "something we need to be quite concerned about." "ChatGPT has illustrated to people just how advanced AI has become. It has been advanced for a while, it just didn't have a user interface that was accessible to most people," he explained.

Since its release at the end of the previous year, ChatGPT has grown significantly and piqued users' interest in the potential of AI. After it was demonstrated that it was capable of writing essays that could pass for those of a student, it also sparked discussion about its potential application in fields like education.
