News Synopsis

A man from Kerala named Anthony John has made an electric vehicle that can run for 60 kilometers on a single charge. Mr. John is a career consultant by profession. He uses this car to commute between his home and office. Prior to this, he was using an electric scooter but he eventually wanted something that could protect him from weather conditions. He began manufacturing this car in 2018. It has a carrying capacity of two persons. He named his car  'Pulkoodu' after his house name. The car features a headlight, fog light indicator, and front and back wipers. It is extremely cost-effective and uses up to one unit of current. One unit of current roughly costs Rs. 5. The popularity and the demand for electric vehicles have increased significantly in the country lately, According to data compiled by automobile dealers' body FADA, the sales of electric vehicles in the country increased three times in the last financial year. Fada further informed that the Total electric vehicle (EV) retails reached 4,29,217 units in 2021-22, a rise of three-fold from 1,34,821 units in the financial year 2020-21 and the Total EV sales had stood at 1,68,300 units in 2019-20 fiscal. The rising fuel price is one of the major reasons behind the customers’ inclination towards EVs.
