DRDO Successfully Completed the Aircraft's First Flight Without A Pilot

News Synopsis

India has got a big success in the direction of developing Unmanned Fighter Aircraft. The Defense Research and Development Organization on Friday successfully completed the first flight of its fully automatic aircraft at Chitradurga, Karnataka. An official press release in this regard said that the unmanned aircraft took off with precision and then landed smoothly. DRDO has successfully carried out the first flight of the Autonomous Flying Wing Technology Demonstrator.

According to the statement, this flight is a major achievement in proving the technologies important towards the development of future unmanned aircraft and it is also a significant step towards self-reliance in strategic defense technologies. DRDO said in its statement that this unmanned aircraft has been designed and developed by Aeronautical Development Establishment Bengaluru, a premier research laboratory of DRDO.

Let us tell you that this is a small unmanned aircraft. Turbofan Engine is installed in it. The airframe and even the bottom structure, wheels, flight control, and avionics systems are all indigenously made in India. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has congratulated on the success of DRDO. He said that "this is a major achievement in the direction of developing autonomous aircraft."
