Continue to Focus on Creating Infrastructure to Promote Outbound Shipments: APEDA

News Synopsis

Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority has said that it is focusing on the creation of infrastructure and clusters with state governments, in order to boost the exports of the country. The authority also said that the export of agriculture and processed food has also increased to USD 20,674 million during 2020-2021.

The countries in the top importers of non-basmati rice included Nepal, Bangladesh, Benin, Senegal and Tago. Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Yemen and the United Arab Emirates were the top major export destinations for the export of basmati rice.

M Angamthu, the chairman of APEDA is continuously creating infrastructure to boost the export by focusing on clusters with state governments with the consideration of the Agriculture Export Policy, 2018.

APEDA has been working on the implementation of the Agricultural Export Policy with the state governments. Maharashtra, Kerala, Nagaland, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Punjab, Karnataka, and Rajasthan have finished the state-specific action plan for exports.
