Covid Vaccine for US to be Manufactured by Serum Institute of India

Novavax Inc announced on Tuesday that the COVID-19 vaccine, which was first available in the United States, will be manufactured by the Serum Institute of India if approved.

"Therefore, all vaccines commercially available around the world are manufactured in one facility simply by a partner (Serum Institute of India), including both vaccines used worldwide and vaccines first used in the United States, "said Chief Medical Officer Filip Dubovsky.

The Serum Institute of India was founded in 1966 in the Indian city of Pune. The company started manufacturing immunobiology which was earlier imported to India at a high price. Among the first products mass-produced by the Serum Institute of India were tetanus antitoxin, snake antivenom, DPT vaccine, and MMR vaccine.
