News Synopsis

Hyundai and Kia are trying to expand the range of CNG models currently monopolized by Maruti Suzuki. These Korean brands are working on the development of variants equipped with various models of CNG. Due to rising fuel prices, government agencies are promoting CNG as an alternative fuel.

Speaking of future CNG vehicles from Hyundai and Kia, the company hasn't officially revealed much information. Kia Sonet CNG, Hyundai Venue CNG, Hyundai Alcazar CNG, and Kia Carens CNG will be launched in the market.

No visual difference was seen in either Hyundai Creta or the prototype with the Kia Seltos CNG variant. Except for the dedicated CNG badge, both UVs are said to be identical to their respective petrol and diesel-driven variations.

Like other CNG models, Hyundai and Kia are unlikely to offer Creta and Seltos CNG variants with an automatic transmission. It will only offer a manual gearbox to keep prices in check. It is likely to take place sometime next year.

Safety features of up to six airbags, brake assist and vehicle stability management (VSM), electronic stability control (ESC), and hill-start assist control (HAC) are provided in both Creta and Seltos.
