News Synopsis

The western world seems to be being reintroduced to the dangers of climate change as heatwaves sweep across the continent of Europe. However, it continues to be omitted from the main stream political discussions in other parts of the world.
India is one of the countries most susceptible to the climate crisis's domino effects! Droughts, heatwaves, cyclones, floods, and unpredictable monsoons are just a few of the climate-related dangers that the heavily populated nation continues to experience. Our policymakers don't appear to be aware of this ground reality, though!

A recent study shows that the Indian parliament's discussion of the climate crisis is still very much lacking. A study from the Center for Climate Change and Sustainability at Azim Premji University found that from 1999 to 2019, only 0.3% of all parliamentary questions dealt with the climate crisis. This suggests that only three of the 1,000 questions asked by Indian lawmakers had any connection to climate change.
There is a bright side! Climate change-related questions have become more prevalent over time. They reached their apex in 2015, though, and have not risen steadily since. The study primarily calls attention to the fact that there was no discussion of climate change during the Indian Parliament's question period.
