News Synopsis

After seven years, Delhi's private schools performed better in the CBSE class XII exams than the city's public schools. The city's class XII performance is superior to the national average, but after peaking in 2021, class X performance in government schools declined to perform below the national average.

Government schools in Delhi have consistently outperformed private schools in terms of pass rates for the class XII board exams since 2015. The class XII pass rate at Delhi's private and public schools is lower this year than it was in 2021, following the national trend. Compared to government schools, which have a pass rate of 96.01 percent, private schools have a slightly better pass rate of 97.65. 2014 was the last year that government schools had a lower pass percentage.

Government schools last recorded a lower pass rate in 2014, when they recorded 88.78% while private schools recorded 92.09%. Both, however, have pass rates that are greater than the average for the country, which is 92.71.

The gap between class XII and class X scores from last year's return to external board examination and scores coming from internally computed results at the school level are noticeable nationally with a decline in pass percentages in both classes.

The performance of Delhi's government schools in class X, however, is where it stands out the most. The pass percentage of Delhi government schools increased from 82.61 percent to 97.52 percent after the new school-level evaluation scheme was implemented last year, practically matching the national pass percentage of 99.04 percent. They did, however, record a pass percentage of 81.36 percent this year, which is lower than the national pass percentage of 94.4 percent. The city's private schools, on the other hand, outperformed the national average with a pass percentage of 95.99 percent.
