News Synopsis

Britain's Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he is ready to offer more visas to India this year in exchange for a free trade agreement that could boost bilateral trade by billions of pounds in a year.

On his way to the world's second-most populous country, Johnson signaled that he was ready to be more positive about issues that could stall negotiations.

Britain has made getting an alternate cope with India one of all its post-Brexit priorities as ministers, loose from the European Union's not unusual place alternate coverage, appearance to tools coverage toward faster-developing economies across the Indo-Pacific region.

India wants more opportunities for Indians to live and work in the UK. Trade agreements may rely on the relaxation of rules and reductions in fees for Indian students and entry professionals.

The UK wants to take advantage of India's middle classes and their desire for premium British products like Scotch whiskey. They also hope that India will become a buyer of its green technology and trade in services will be strengthened.

The UK says the trade deal could nearly double UK exports to India and increase overall trade by £28 billion ($38 billion) annually by 2035. According to UK statistics, total trade in 2019 was £23 billion.
