News Synopsis

On February 1, Disney+ Hotstar will begin streaming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the newest superhero film from Marvel. It is the follow-up to Black Panther (2018) and the 30th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it was made by Marvel Studios and released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures (MCU). Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Martin Freeman, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Angela Bassett all appear in the movie, which was directed by Ryan Coogler and co-written by Joe Robert Cole.

In the July to September quarter, the Walt Disney Co.'s video streaming service Disney+ added 12 million users globally, while Hotstar added just under 3 million. This is a decrease from the 8 million subscribers Hotstar attracted during the quarter from April to June.

In countries like Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, the service is referred to as Disney+ Hotstar. Disney+ has surpassed the 164 million subscription mark globally. The business uses a fiscal year that runs from October to September.

Following the loss of the rights to watch the Indian Premier League online in August of last year, Walt Disney revised its subscriber projection for Hotstar to 80 million by the end of the fiscal 2024 year. The platform had previously predicted that there will be 70–100 million users. The business had previously given a subscriber estimate of 230-260 million for Disney+, but this will reduce the total number of subscriptions for the service to 215-245 million internationally in the same time frame.

According to a press release from Disney, the September quarter saw a decrease in the average monthly revenue per paid subscriber for Disney+ Hotstar from $0.64 to $0.58 as a result of lower per-subscriber advertising revenue and a higher percentage of wholesale subscribers, which were partially offset by an increase in retail pricing.
