News Synopsis

Bajaj Auto reported strong sales performance in January 2026, driven by sustained demand for commuter motorcycles, stable mid-segment sales, and improving export markets. Both domestic and overseas deliveries contributed to the growth, reflecting a balanced performance across product categories and geographies.

Bajaj Auto January 2026 Sales Performance

Bajaj Auto recorded total sales of over 4.77 lakh units in January 2026, marking an increase of nearly 25% compared to the same month last year. The sales figure includes domestic as well as export deliveries of motorcycles, scooters, and three-wheelers.

The growth during the month was primarily supported by steady demand in the commuter motorcycle segment, stable mid-segment sales, and a recovery in key international markets. Compared to January 2025, both domestic and export channels contributed to the overall growth, highlighting that the company’s performance was not dependent on a single market or product category.

Motorcycles Remain the Key Growth Driver

Motorcycles accounted for the largest share of Bajaj Auto’s sales in January 2026. Models such as Pulsar and Platina played a significant role in driving volumes in both domestic and export markets.

The Platina range continued to perform strongly in the entry-level commuter segment, which remains the highest-demand category in the Indian two-wheeler market. Meanwhile, the Pulsar portfolio contributed across the 125cc to 250cc segments, catering to urban buyers as well as international customers.

Motorcycle exports remained a major pillar of sales, with markets in Africa, Latin America, and parts of Asia supporting growth overseas.

Chetak Boosts Scooter and Electric Vehicle Sales

Bajaj Auto’s electric two-wheeler sales saw a notable contribution from the Chetak electric scooter in January 2026. Although scooters form a smaller portion of the company’s overall portfolio compared to motorcycles, Chetak sales increased during the month.

Expanding dealer reach and rising demand for electric scooters in urban markets helped drive volumes. The performance of Chetak reflects Bajaj Auto’s efforts to strengthen its presence in the electric mobility segment while building its core EV business.

Domestic and Export Sales Breakdown

  • Total domestic sales: ~2.62 lakh units

  • Domestic two-wheeler sales: ~2.15 lakh units

  • Two-wheeler exports: ~1.92 lakh units

Both domestic and export segments recorded year-on-year growth. Exports accounted for a significant portion of total volumes, underlining Bajaj Auto’s strong reliance on international markets, particularly for motorcycles.

Industry Comparison: Where Bajaj Auto Stands

In the broader two-wheeler market for January 2026, Bajaj Auto trailed some of its larger competitors in total sales volume:

  • Hero MotoCorp: Over 55 lakh two-wheelers sold

  • TVS Motor Company: Over 51 lakh units sold

  • Royal Enfield: Around 14 lakh motorcycles sold

While Bajaj Auto ranked behind these companies in total volumes, it remained competitive in terms of export share and demand in the mid-capacity motorcycle segment.
