News Synopsis

One of the most emerging electric two-wheelers brands of India- Ather Energy announced that it has partnered with a Foxconn unit- Bharat FIH to source components for its vehicles. In a press statement, Tarun Mehta, the chief executive officer of Ather Energy said: “We are working towards strengthening our supply chain to cater to the rising demand for our scooters. Towards this, we are delighted to partner with Bharat FIH to provide us with the capacity, supply chain capability, and process expertise to achieve our volumes and projections.” Earlier, these components were sourced from Sanmina Corporation. The components that will be sourced from Bharat FIH include printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies for battery management systems, dashboard assembly, peripheral controlling units, and drive control modules. The supply chain and logistics of these components will be managed by Bharat FIH.  Ather sold 2,042 scooters in February, up 140% year-on-year. Due to low volumes of EV components and lack of interest from the supplier, EV manufacturers faced a hard time sourcing their components but the situation is gradually improving.
