News Synopsis

Apple, based in Cupertino,

is said to be testing colour e-ink screens for future foldable smartphones and tablets. Several sources have suggested that Apple is already working on its first foldable tablet. Apple is now testing colour e-ink screens, commonly known as electronic paper displays, according to a tweet from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

The company plans to use them for the cover or external display of future foldable phones, as well as tablets. E-ink displays are perfect for the secondary screen in foldable devices, according to Kuo, because they are power efficient. When compared to LCD or OLED displays, they are known to use less electricity.

While Apple has yet to release a foldable gadget, sources suggest the company is working on many foldable products. The business is apparently working on a 20-inch folding gadget in addition to foldable iPhones.

AMOLED outer screens

are currently available on existing foldable devices from Samsung, Oppo, and Vivo.

It's worth noting that static content on e-ink displays uses very little power, making them ideal for presenting time, notifications, and other information without sacrificing battery life. They cannot, however, be compared to the quality of LCD or AMOLED screens. Apple is expected to launch its first foldable device in the next two to three years, so a lot can still change before we can finally get our hands on the device.
