Anand Mahindra Joins the Central Board of RBI

News Synopsis

Anand Mahindra, the country's veteran industrialist and head of Mahindra & Mahindra, has joined the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India. The government has also appointed industrialists like Pankaj R Patel and Venu Srinivasan along with Anand Mahindra as non-official directors on the Central Board of Reserve Bank of India (RBI). 

Along with this, former Professor Ravindra H Dholakia of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM-Ahmedabad) has also joined the board. According to a notification issued by the RBI on Tuesday, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has made these appointments for a period of four years. 

The Central Board of Directors conducts matters relating to the Reserve Bank. The members of the Board, headed by the Reserve Bank Governor, are appointed by the Government of India as per the Reserve Bank of India Act. Anand Mahindra is currently the Chairman of Mahindra Group. 

He is also the non-executive chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra and Tech Mahindra. In addition, TVS Motor Company Chairman Venu Srinivasan and Zydus Lifescience Chairman Pankaj R Patel have also been inducted into the central board of the Reserve Bank.
