News Synopsis

Ambuja Cements, a prominent cement and building material company under the Adani Portfolio, has announced a strategic partnership with Finland-based technology and engineering firm Coolbrook. This collaboration aims to accelerate Ambuja’s journey toward achieving its ambitious Net Zero goals.

Adopting Revolutionary RotoDynamic Heater Technology

As part of this partnership, Ambuja Cements will deploy Coolbrook’s proprietary RotoDynamic Heater (RDH) technology. This innovative solution utilizes renewable electricity for zero-carbon, high-temperature process heating, significantly reducing fossil fuel reliance and carbon emissions.

Renewable Energy Driving Sustainability Goals

The integration of RDH technology allows Ambuja Cements to harness mechanical energy to generate high temperatures using green power at competitive rates. This process is expected to minimize the use of fossil fuels in the cement kiln precalciner, a critical component of cement manufacturing, while also supporting multiple other industrial applications.

Leadership in Sustainability Initiatives

Ajay Kapur, CEO of Adani Group Cement Business, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, "Our strategic partnership with Coolbrook reflects our unwavering commitment to Net Zero targets. Leveraging Adani Group’s extensive green power generation capabilities, we will reduce fossil fuel dependence, costs, and emissions, reinforcing our leadership in sustainable practices."

Complementing Decarbonization Efforts

Ambuja Cements has established itself as a leader in decarbonization. This new technology aligns with the company’s sustainability targets, including achieving an Alternate Fuels and Raw Materials (AFR) rate of 28% and utilizing 60% green power by 2028.

Coolbrook’s Perspective on the Partnership

Coolbrook CEO Joonas Rauramo shared his optimism about the collaboration, stating, "Ambuja Cements’ commitment to sustainability and leadership in renewable energy make them an ideal partner. Together, we aim to drive the global energy transition through innovative solutions."

Advancing Cement Manufacturing Efficiency

The RDH technology’s carbon-free process addresses one of the most significant challenges in the cement industry—emissions from traditional fuels. By adopting this innovative technology, Ambuja Cements will further enhance its efficiency and environmental responsibility across its 22 integrated cement manufacturing plants and 21 cement grinding units in India.

Scaling Green Power and Reducing Carbon Footprint

This partnership underscores Ambuja Cements’ dedication to sustainability. With a current cement production capacity of 89 MTPA, the company continues to lead the industry by integrating cutting-edge technology and renewable energy solutions to achieve its Net Zero aspirations.
