News Synopsis

There’s always been some controversy around Amazon and its working conditions. The workers are not paid enough for the work they do. To top this off, the working conditions are harsh and the rules are almost archaic in nature. Many Amazon warehouse doesn’t allow workers to take a bathroom break and they are paid minimum wages. The same goes for Amazon drivers who have to deliver 150-250 packages per day on minimum wages. The protest against these conditions has always been there but Amazon hasn’t budged a little from its position.

Things took an ugly turn for two Amazon employees who began questioning the unethical ways of the corporation. Emily and Maren, both began troubling Amazon’s management about their harsh working conditions in the pandemic. They asked for fair pay since the times were tough. Instead of listening to their very genuine demands, the company fired both of them. Thankfully the two went and files a lawsuit against the firm for illegally firing them over ‘activism’. After a year of fighting, the employees won the case and Amazon has decided to settle the lawsuit by paying their wages for the whole year. The terms of the settlement remain disclosed.
