News Synopsis

The United States-based e-commerce giant, Amazon aims to recruit high school graduates in the United States and Canada. Last year in the month of  December, The Wall Street Journal reported that e commerce platform is planning to set up "mock fulfillment centers in high schools to plant the seeds of future careers." Other media reports also state that Amazon will aim to attract young recruits with huge bonuses, college tuition benefits, and salaries well above the federal minimum wage.

According to Amazon spokesperson Lisa Campos, Amazon's policy to recruit from high school is nothing new. Campos said that Amazon has carried out a similar initiative before the pandemic, however, it was forced to cancel recruitment forays into schools when COVID-19 emerged and forced the world to go into a lockdown.

Now with the summer of 2022 coming up and the company's offering of a new college tuition benefit, the tech giant is looking to attract high school graduates. In a statement to Insider,  Amazon spokesperson Lisa Campos said: "We're always looking for great employees and this is one of many hiring efforts across the company. We're proud to be an employer of choice for graduating high school students who often join Amazon because of our industry-leading benefits and opportunities for growth and promotion. Through programs like Career Choice, Amazon empowers employees to get the education and training they need to grow their careers at Amazon and beyond."
