News Synopsis

According to a Wall Street Journal research, the median salary for most S&P 500 companies increased last year as the economy expanded and the labour market tightened. According to the research, Google parent Alphabet and Facebook's Meta Platforms had the highest-paid median workers, at about $300,000. They were one of approximately 150 businesses whose median employees earned more than $100,000.

Aptiv PLC, an auto-parts supplier, has the lowest-paid median worker in the S&P 500: a full-time factory worker in Mexico earned less than $7,500 last year. Aptiv was one of 44 businesses that paid less than $30,000. Meanwhile, Apple hiked worker compensation by 18% last year, much more than the majority of companies in the index.

Overall, the median pay number increased last year for 278 of the 453 organisations in the Journal's examination of MyLogIQ LLC data. According to a study published this year, Google increased the base wages of four of its top-level employees from $650,000 to $1 million.

According to the story, the pay increase for top executives comes after a senior Google executive stated in December that the internet giant will not automatically raise all employees' salary to account for inflation.
