News Synopsis

Tech Giant of China, Alibaba has developed a new chip for the servers in its data centres. The chip is developed by the T-Head unit of the company. The development of the chip marks the boost in China’s Chip Manufacturing sector. It is called the Yitian 710.

Currently, Alibaba is the largest cloud computing provider in China and the third-largest globally. The chip or processor developed by Alibaba is using the chips for their own servers and it is not available for commercial use outside the company.

Just like Alibaba, other cloud computing companies have also released their own server chips. Along with Alibaba, Huawei Technologies Co Ltd (HWT.UL) and Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O) rely on their in-house server chips to power their infrastructure.
