News Synopsis

Airtel has taken a significant step to improve connectivity in Prayagraj ahead of the Maha Kumbh 2025. The company has installed 287 new network sites, optimized over 340 existing sites, and laid an additional 74 kilometers of fiber to provide robust and seamless connectivity throughout the city.

Comprehensive Coverage for Kumbh Mela Premises

To ensure uninterrupted mobile coverage within the Kumbh Mela premises, Airtel has deployed 78 active Cell on Wheels (COW). These portable towers are strategically placed to support the communication needs of millions of attendees. The coverage extends beyond the mela grounds to key areas like highways, railway stations, the airport, hotels, and other high-traffic zones in Prayagraj.

Preparedness for Emergencies

In preparation for potential network emergencies, Airtel has established three war rooms located in Jhusi, Arail, and Sangam areas. These facilities are equipped with disaster management resources, including additional generators, diesel supplies, and critical equipment, ensuring rapid response in case of disruptions. A dedicated team is stationed at these war rooms to monitor and address any network issues promptly.

Partnering with Prayagraj Traffic Police

Airtel has collaborated with the Prayagraj Traffic Police to enhance crowd management and ensure safety. Over 780 kiosks have been installed at entry and exit points of the Kumbh venue. These kiosks display important safety instructions and provide navigation assistance, helping visitors navigate the massive event smoothly.

Commitment to Seamless Connectivity

With millions of pilgrims expected to attend Maha Kumbh 2025, Airtel has made significant investments to enhance network capacity and reliability. These efforts underline Airtel's dedication to providing uninterrupted communication services during large-scale events, catering to the diverse needs of attendees from across the globe.

Airtel's Subscriber Growth Milestone

Airtel's efforts in expanding and strengthening its network are reflected in its market performance. According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Airtel achieved the highest net wireless subscriber growth in October 2024, adding 1.93 million mobile subscribers. This makes it the sole operator to report an increase in customer numbers, highlighting its growing consumer base and trusted services.

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, one of the world's largest religious gatherings, will take place in Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26. Approximately 40 crore people are expected to attend this mega event, held once every twelve years.
