Airbnb Adapts Live Anywhere, Work Anywhere Philosophy

Airbnb is fully committed to the philosophy of “live anywhere, work anywhere” that many of the business communities had to adopt, with full-time remote work for most employees and 90 days of overseas work. This is a powerful and simple policy that big companies have been considering after the pandemic.

The company said that employees can work from anywhere within the country but it would not be able to support employees moving out of the country for this year. Employees will still need a permanent address. 

Many companies have published provisional guidelines that will be reviewed again in the coming months. There's a lot to talk about "hybrid" or "flex" models. In this model, employees work from the office for a few days and the rest of the time at home.

Perhaps Airbnb will be the first company for this particular kind of "fully remote workspace". All other companies are waiting for the company to tackle huge new tax and productivity issues. However, despite international legal restrictions, the simplicity and flexibility of the policy can outweigh the new issues it creates.
