News Synopsis

On Tuesday, the Consumer Electronics and Appliances Manufacturers Association announced that because of the early onset of summer and scorching heatwave, residential air conditioner manufacturers are aiming to register a record sales of around 90 lakh units this year, In the month of April, the AC industry has already registered an all-time high for the month by selling of around 17.5 lakh units.

However, Eric Braganza, president of CEAMA (Consumer Electronics and Appliances Manufacturers Association) said that in the next two months, the availability of certain products could be a concern as manufacturers may not be able to meet the market demand, especially the energy-efficient 5-star range.

The main reason behind this is that the demand for these products is already skyrocketing and supply disruptions of components such as controllers and compressors. Braganza said ''At an industry level, the estimated sales of residential ACs (Air Conditioners) in the month of April 2022 is around 1.75 million units. The sales are double compared to April 2021 and 30-35 percent over April 2019 figures.” He further informed that the results display a ''staggering growth'' as compared to the pre-pandemic levels.
