News Synopsis

Another day of success for India at the Commonwealth Games 2022 was when Tejaswin Shankar made history by winning the first ever medal for India's high jump. On Day 6, the Indian contingent received five more medals, one silver, and four bronze. This brings their total to 18, which includes 6 gold, 7 silver, and 7 bronze.

To cap off the day, Shankar won the bronze medal. After facing defeat against Sarah Adlington from Scotland, Judoka Tulika Maan won the silver medal in women's 78 kg. It was India's third Judo medal.

Saurav Ghosal, Ace India's squash star, defeated James Willstrop 11-6, 11-1 and 11-4 to win India its first Commonwealth Games bronze medal in squash singles.

As India's best ever total of 10 medals in Wrestling at the CWG, Wrestlers Lovepreet Singh & Gurdeep Singh won bronze medals. Canada was defeated 4-3 by India women's hockey in the team events to place them in the semifinals. Canada was beaten 8-0 by the men's hockey team in the group stage tie.

The Indian women won the cricket match against Barbados by winning the game by 100 runs to secure their place in the semifinals. India's four boxers Nikhat Zareen (50kg), Nitu Bandhas (48kg), and Mohammad Hussamuddin (57.5kg) reached the semifinals in their respective categories, and were guaranteed medals.
