Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in China, further strengthening its premium lineup for 2025. Positioned as the company’s most advanced Ultra device yet, the phone succeeds the Xiaomi 15 Ultra — but instead of redesigning everything, Xiaomi appears focused on perfecting what already worked.
From a new flat-frame aesthetic to a bigger battery and an ambitious camera system, the 17 Ultra signals Xiaomi’s effort to refine its Ultra series philosophy.
One of the standout highlights of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is its redesigned body. For the first time in the Ultra lineup, Xiaomi has opted for a completely flat 2D display and a flat vertical frame.
Height: 162.9mm
Width: 77.6mm
Thickness: 8.29mm — the slimmest Ultra phone so far
Despite housing a large battery and advanced camera hardware, the device maintains a sleek profile.
Xiaomi is offering four elegant finishes:
Classic Black
Classic White
Starry Green with a mineral grain texture
Cool Smoke Purple, aimed at users who prefer something more distinctive
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED flat display, sourced from TCL CSOT. It supports:
1.5K resolution
120Hz adaptive refresh rate
Up to 1060 nits brightness in high-brightness mode
For durability, Xiaomi has added Shield Glass 3 (Dragon Crystal Glass 3). The flat screen design helps reduce accidental touches and enhances usability on a large device.
Xiaomi has equipped the 17 Ultra with Qualcomm’s latest innovation: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, built on a 3nm process.
It is paired with:
LPDDR5X Ultra RAM
UFS 4.1 storage
Adreno 840 GPU for advanced graphics performance
The smartphone runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3 on top.
To enhance reliability and connection speeds, Xiaomi includes:
High-performance antenna system
Five signal enhancement chips
Support for 51 4G/5G bands
UWB ultra-wideband technology
Photography remains the hallmark of the Ultra lineup, and Xiaomi has gone all-in again. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra introduces what Xiaomi calls its most capable camera setup so far, developed with Leica.
50MP 1-inch Light Master camera
Omnivision Light Hunter 1050L sensor
Optical Image Stabilisation
LOFIC ultra-high dynamic range technology
This design enhances low-light shooting while retaining realistic highlights and shadows.
The device also features:
200MP periscope telephoto camera (1/1.4-inch sensor)
3G+5P optical structure with floating lens
Seamless zoom from 75mm to 400mm
50MP ultra-wide camera
On the front, Xiaomi has included a 50MP Omnivision selfie sensor.
A standout camera feature is the new “Fireworks Mode,” which leverages LOFIC HDR technology and AI-scene detection to balance bright, complex lighting — particularly during night fireworks or high-contrast scenes.
Battery capacity sees a major upgrade with a 6800mAh battery. Charging options include:
90W wired fast charging
50W wireless charging
Even with the larger battery, the device maintains a relatively manageable weight of 224 grams.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra supports:
IP68 water and dust resistance
Dual stereo speakers
X-axis linear motor
NFC
Wi-Fi 7
Bluetooth 5.4
LHDC 5.0
3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner
Xiaomi emphasizes interconnectivity as a key advantage. The 17 Ultra offers deeper Apple ecosystem integration, letting users mirror and control their Xiaomi device directly from an iPhone.
It also supports:
Screen mirroring with iPhone, iPad, and Mac
Two-way mirroring between Xiaomi phones
Users can reportedly perform tasks like ordering food or scanning QR codes through linked devices.
