The Rs 1 lakh crore scheme, which received approval on July 1, 2025, will remain active for two years—from August 1, 2025, to July 31, 2027. During this period, the scheme is projected to create over 3.5 crore jobs across India.

Who Can Apply for PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana?

The scheme is open to all employers and first-time employees across India. It has been structured into two major components:

Part A: First-Time Employees

  • Individuals entering formal employment for the first time can benefit from this section.

  • Eligible employees can avail of direct financial incentives.

Part B: Employers

  • Employers across sectors will also receive benefits for hiring and retaining additional workers.

  • Companies with fewer than 50 employees must recruit at least two extra workers.

  • Companies with 50 or more employees are required to hire a minimum of five new workers.

  • These new employees must remain employed for at least six months to qualify.

Even establishments exempt under the EPF & MP Act, 1952 are covered under this initiative, ensuring broader participation.

Why the PMVBRY Scheme Matters

The PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana is expected to:

  • Encourage first-time job seekers by providing direct financial support.

  • Motivate businesses to expand their workforce by offering financial incentives.

  • Significantly contribute to employment generation in the manufacturing sector, which is crucial for India’s economic growth.

  • Strengthen India’s journey towards becoming a $5 trillion economy by supporting the youth workforce.

Conclusion

The Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY) marks a bold step by the government to strengthen India’s employment ecosystem. With its Rs 1 lakh crore allocation and focus on generating 3.5 crore jobs between 2025 and 2027, the scheme seeks to empower both employees and employers.

By providing a direct incentive of up to Rs 15,000 for first-time employees and monthly support for companies hiring additional staff, the initiative balances financial relief with workforce expansion. It not only motivates young professionals to join the private sector but also incentivizes businesses to increase hiring capacity, especially in labor-intensive industries like manufacturing.

The digital-first approach via the UMANG app and official portals ensures transparency and accessibility for all stakeholders. If implemented effectively, PMVBRY could become a cornerstone of India’s vision for Viksit Bharat, paving the way for sustainable growth, robust job creation, and a stronger economy.
