The star power of Indian celebrities continues to shine brighter than ever. According to Kroll’s Celebrity Brand Valuation Report 2024, the combined brand value of India’s top 25 celebrities has touched $2 billion, marking an 8.6% growth from the previous year. This milestone underlines how sports icons and film stars remain the backbone of India’s advertising and endorsement industry.
At the forefront of this billion-dollar surge is Virat Kohli, whose brand valuation has reached $231.1 million, reinforcing his position as India’s most valuable celebrity brand. His consistent dominance reflects his wide appeal across sports, lifestyle, and global endorsements.
Actor Ranveer Singh remains in the second spot with a brand value of $170.7 million, although slightly lower than his 2023 valuation.
Bollywood’s King Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, retained his No. 3 position with a massive 21% jump in valuation to $145.7 million, thanks to blockbuster releases and renewed endorsement deals.
Alia Bhatt has climbed to the No. 4 spot with a valuation of $116.4 million, making her the highest-ranked female celebrity on the list.
Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar made a strong return to the top five, clocking $112.2 million, powered by a new slate of brand endorsements.
The rankings also highlight dynamic shifts further down the list:
Kriti Sanon surged to rank 19 with $44.8 million.
Tamannaah Bhatia climbed to 21 with $40.4 million.
Jasprit Bumrah made his debut at 22 with $38.1 million.
Ananya Panday entered the top 25 for the first time, valued at $35.2 million.
Kroll’s report also sheds light on how India’s entertainment industry is evolving:
South Indian films now command 47.7% of the box office, surpassing Hindi cinema, which has dropped to 39.5%.
OTT platforms contribute over 50% of revenues for major releases, showing their growing financial dominance.
Nostalgia is driving revenue, with re-releases like Jab We Met (50% of lifetime box office from re-release), Tumbbad (70%), and Tamil blockbuster Ghilli (35%) achieving huge success.
“The future of Indian cinema lies in synergy,” said Umakanta Panigrahi, Managing Director, Valuation Advisory Services at Kroll. “OTT and theatres now complement each other. Re-releases have also brought audiences back to cinemas, showing that nothing can replace the thrill of the big screen.”
