Uber has announced a major rollout of new features in India aimed at making commuting more affordable, inclusive, and user-friendly. Serving over 125 cities with a network of 1.4 million drivers, India remains one of Uber’s fastest-growing markets. These new updates are based on rider feedback and are designed to address the diverse mobility needs of Indian commuters—from daily travelers to families, seniors, and pet owners.
One of the major highlights of this rollout is Uber’s new “Wait & Save” feature, currently being piloted in over 10 cities. This option offers discounted fares for riders who can afford a longer wait time in exchange for more budget-friendly travel. In contrast, “Go Priority” caters to passengers who prefer premium rides with faster pickups.
Starting in December 2025, Uber will also introduce Price Lock, a feature allowing users to secure fares for frequently traveled routes by paying a small upfront fee. This addition protects riders from price fluctuations during peak hours, offering greater predictability and control over travel costs.
To further expand multi-modal travel convenience, Uber has partnered with ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce) to launch in-app metro ticket booking. Already live in Delhi, this feature is set to expand to Chennai and Mumbai, allowing riders to seamlessly purchase metro tickets within the Uber app. This integration bridges the gap between ride-hailing and public transport, aiming to create a more connected and cost-effective urban travel experience.
Uber is also rolling out inclusive and value-added services aimed at specific user segments. One of the most notable additions is “Uber for Seniors”, launching in July 2025, which features an easy-to-navigate interface, larger icons, and simplified booking steps. This version of the app allows family members to track rides and ensures safer, more independent mobility for older users.
For users with heavier parcel needs, Uber has introduced Courier XL in Delhi NCR and Mumbai. This service enables delivery of large items up to 750 kg, accommodating furniture, bulk packages, and more. It provides a faster, more flexible alternative to traditional courier services, designed for both individuals and businesses.
Understanding the challenges faced by pet owners, Uber has also launched Uber Pet in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. This new offering allows users to reserve pet-friendly rides, ensuring a stress-free and comfortable travel experience for both animals and their humans. The feature is available only through the Uber Reserve option, providing more flexibility in planning and scheduling.
To simplify airport pickups and reduce waiting time, Uber has expanded its Airport Priority Access service, currently available in Pune and Hyderabad, and soon launching in Mumbai and Noida. This feature gives travelers faster pickup lanes and prioritised driver allocation at busy terminals.
In addition, Uber has introduced Uber XL Plus in Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad, providing larger vehicles such as the Toyota Innova for riders needing extra space. This is particularly useful for families, group travelers, or those carrying more luggage.
