Tata Motors’ much-awaited Sierra is all set to hit Indian roads as deliveries begin from January 15. With segment-first triple screens, powerful engine options and premium features, the new SUV is ready to take on top rivals like Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
Tata Sierra has become one of the most talked-about cars in India right now. Ever since its launch, the SUV has created a huge buzz in the market. The main reasons behind its popularity are its attractive pricing and segment-first features such as the triple-screen setup. With its stylish design, powerful engines and strong safety package, the Sierra is fast becoming the first choice for many buyers.
Bookings for the SUV have already crossed impressive numbers, and customers have been eagerly waiting to get their hands on it. The wait is now over, as Tata Motors will begin delivering the Sierra from January 15, putting pressure on popular models like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
After announcing its prices, all eyes are now on the delivery schedule of the Tata Sierra. The company has confirmed that deliveries will start from January 15. Production is in full swing at Tata’s Sanand plant in Gujarat to ensure customers do not face long waiting periods.
Initially, Tata Motors had planned to produce around 7,000 units per month, but due to strong demand, the target has now been increased to 12,000–15,000 units per month. This move is aimed at meeting customer demand quickly and preventing buyers from switching to rival SUVs.
The Tata Sierra will compete directly with some of the most popular midsize SUVs in India. Its key rivals include:
Hyundai Creta
Kia Seltos
Maruti Grand Vitara
Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder
Honda Elevate
Tata Motors currently holds around 16–17% share of the SUV market, and with the Sierra, the company aims to increase this to 20–25%.
The Tata Sierra is available with three powerful engine options to suit different driving needs:
Ideal for smooth and relaxed driving, this engine produces 106 PS of power and 145 Nm of torque. It is offered with both manual and automatic transmissions.
Designed for those who want strong performance, this engine delivers 160 PS of power and 255 Nm of torque. It comes paired only with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Perfect for long-distance driving, the diesel engine offers 260 Nm of torque with manual and 280 Nm with automatic transmission options.
Tata Motors has also confirmed that an electric version of the Sierra, called the Tata Sierra EV, will be launched later in 2026. This will further strengthen Tata’s position in the growing electric SUV market.
The new Sierra blends a retro-inspired design with a modern touch, making it stand out from other SUVs. One of its biggest highlights is the segment-first triple-screen layout.
Other premium features include:
Spacious cabin
Panoramic sunroof
LED lighting
Dual-zone climate control
Ventilated front seats
Under-thigh support
Safety has also been given top priority. The Sierra comes equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and a 360-degree camera, ensuring a safe and confident driving experience.
With its combination of style, technology, performance and safety, the Tata Sierra is well positioned to challenge established rivals like the Creta and Seltos in the Indian SUV market.
