Tata Motors continues to strengthen its reputation for building safe vehicles with the Tata Harrier EV, which has secured a 5-star crash safety rating from Bharat NCAP. This achievement comes at a time when the electric vehicle (EV) market in India is growing rapidly, and safety has become a top priority for potential buyers.
The Harrier EV, known for its bold design and advanced features, has impressed experts with its strong performance in Bharat NCAP’s rigorous crash testing. The official crash test video highlights the SUV’s exceptional crashworthiness, further enhancing its appeal in the premium EV segment.
In the latest round of Bharat NCAP evaluations, the Tata Harrier EV delivered an outstanding performance. The electric SUV earned 5-star ratings in both adult occupant protection and child occupant protection categories. Notably, the Harrier EV achieved a perfect score of 32 out of 32 for adult safety — the highest ever for a Tata vehicle.
The SUV scored 16 points each in the frontal offset and side impact crash tests. This result surpasses the diesel-powered Harrier, which had previously scored 30.08 points. The tests confirmed excellent protection for both the driver and front passenger dummies in all crash scenarios, including frontal impact, side barrier impact, and pole impact tests.
Child occupant protection was another area where the Tata Harrier EV excelled. It achieved a remarkable 45 out of 49 points, showcasing Tata’s commitment to family safety. During testing, dummies representing 3-year-old and 18-month-old children were secured in rear-facing i-Size child seats in the back seat.
The Harrier EV earned full marks for child seat installation and dynamic impact protection. In the larger vehicle-based child safety assessment, it secured 9 out of 13 points, further validating its strong performance as a family-friendly EV.
The Tata Harrier EV comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety features that contribute to its high crash test ratings. These include:
Seven airbags
ABS with EBD
Electronic stability control (ESC)
Four-wheel disc brakes
Hill-start assist and hill-descent control
Additionally, the electric SUV offers modern technologies such as:
Front and rear parking sensors

This extensive list of features makes the Harrier EV one of the most well-equipped electric SUVs in its class.
The Tata Harrier EV is available with two battery pack options — 65 kWh and 75 kWh. The standard rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version delivers 235 bhp and an impressive 504 Nm of torque.
