At its Galaxy Unpacked event in Brooklyn, New York, Samsung took a bold step into the next chapter of foldables by unveiling three new devices: the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. These launches mark a renewed effort by Samsung to reclaim leadership in the foldable segment, introducing innovations in design, portability, and performance.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 stands out as the slimmest and lightest Fold Samsung has ever built. Weighing just 215g, it is 24g lighter than the Fold 6 and even lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. When folded, it measures only 8.9mm, making it feel more compact and easier to carry.
Key hardware upgrades include:
8-inch inner foldable display
6.5-inch external screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio
Replaced under-display camera with a 10MP hole-punch camera
200MP main camera, borrowed from the S25 Edge
Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor
Up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage
4,400mAh battery with 25W wired and wireless charging
The device is protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the front and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back. The Armor Flex hinge and aluminum frame boost durability, while the IP48 rating ensures resistance to water splashes and small dust particles.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 introduces significant changes to improve usability and appeal. It now sports a thinner body at 6.5mm when unfolded, and the main display is increased to 6.9 inches. On the outside, Samsung has redesigned the cover screen, expanding it to a 4.1-inch panel that wraps around the dual cameras for a more immersive experience.
Internally, the phone runs on:
Exynos 2500 processor
12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage
4,300mAh battery
Cameras: 50MP wide, 12MP ultrawide, 10MP selfie camera
Like the Fold 7, it features IP48 water and dust resistance, Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and an aluminum chassis for added strength.
To make foldables more accessible, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. It shares much of its design with last year’s Flip 6 but brings notable internal changes. Powered by the Exynos 2400, it includes:
8GB RAM with 128GB or 256GB storage
4,000mAh battery
Similar foldable experience at a more affordable price
This model is aimed at users looking to enter the foldable category without breaking the bank.
Samsung has already opened pre-orders for all three models, with sales starting July 25.
