The Indian Railways is preparing for a major digital transition. The UTS Mobile App will be discontinued, and passengers will soon rely solely on the RailOne app for booking unreserved tickets across the country.
The Indian Railways has confirmed that the UTS Mobile App will be discontinued from March 1, 2026, paving the way for RailOne as the exclusive authorised app for unreserved ticket bookings.
This decision is part of a broader initiative aimed at boosting digital ticketing adoption and simplifying the travel experience for millions of passengers.
To increase RailOne usage, passengers will receive a 3% discount on tickets booked through the app starting January 14.
At the same time, the UTS app is being gradually phased out — the season ticket option has already been removed.
RailOne was launched by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in July 2025 during the 40th Foundation Day of the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS).
The application is currently available on both Android Play Store and Apple App Store.
The RailOne app is designed as an all-in-one solution for passengers. It includes:
Unreserved ticket booking
Reserved ticket services
Live train running status and tracking
e-catering services
Complaint and grievance redressal channels
As stated by officials, the RailOne app “will provide all railway facilities, including both unreserved and reserved tickets.”
According to data shared by the Railway Board, Southern Railway has emerged as one of the leading zones in digital ticketing, with 29.5% of unreserved tickets booked via mobile apps.
The board has encouraged Southern Railway to intensify awareness campaigns and monitoring efforts so that the region can achieve 40% mobile-based unreserved booking through RailOne by March 1, 2026.
The Railway Board appreciated the performance of various divisions, saying:
"All the Divisions have demonstrated commendable progress in enhancing mobile-based unreserved ticket bookings, with Southern Railway already positioned among the best-performing zones. It is encouraging to note this collective effort, and the Railway Board has urged that the momentum be sustained with renewed focus," read a statement.
RailOne is expected to:
Reduce queues at ticket counters
Simplify unreserved ticket access
Integrate multiple railway services into one app
Railway zones will conduct digital awareness drives to ensure passengers:
Download RailOne
Learn booking steps
Understand digital ticket validation rules
This transition marks one of the most significant digital upgrades in Indian Railways ticketing systems.
Conclusion
The move to make RailOne the sole authorised app for unreserved ticket booking reflects Indian Railways' push toward a fully digital ecosystem. With added discounts, integrated services, and national rollout, the RailOne platform is set to become the primary rail companion for millions of commuters.
