IKEA has officially named Patrik Antoni as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its India operations, with the appointment taking effect in August 2025. The Swedish home furnishings giant made the announcement on Tuesday, marking a key transition in leadership as the company prepares for a new era of growth and innovation in the Indian market.
The leadership restructure is aligned with IKEA’s “One IKEA India” strategy, aimed at offering a unified and accessible retail experience across the country. The integrated approach is expected to streamline decision-making and accelerate the brand’s reach in both physical and digital retail spaces.
Patrik Antoni brings with him more than 20 years of global experience at IKEA, including a five-year stint in India where he served as Deputy CEO. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in the setup and launch of IKEA’s first store in Hyderabad, which laid the foundation for the brand’s expansion in the country.
Most recently, Antoni served as the General Manager of IKEA Russia, further strengthening his global leadership credentials. His return to India comes at a strategic time when the company is focusing on deepening its market presence and driving sustainable growth.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Antoni said,
“I am honoured and excited to return to India, a market that holds a special place in my heart and my career. I look forward to building on the strong foundation that the team has laid and the many opportunities that lie ahead. India is a truly unique market with immense growth potential.”
His familiarity with the Indian consumer landscape and IKEA’s local operations is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the brand’s future strategy.
The leadership change comes as Susanne Pulverer, the outgoing CEO, announces her decision to step down after 28 years with IKEA, including eight years in India across three key assignments.
During her tenure, Pulverer oversaw the brand’s growth and transformation in India. Under her leadership, IKEA launched three large-format stores in Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai, and Bengaluru, along with a city store in Worli, Mumbai.
She also played a central role in expanding IKEA’s e-commerce and remote shopping services, including home delivery in key cities like Delhi-NCR, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Lucknow.
Antoni’s appointment signals IKEA’s increased investment and operational focus in India, as the company aims to tap into the nation’s rapidly growing economy and rising demand for affordable home furnishings.
IKEA India is committed to building a robust, accessible, and sustainable retail ecosystem, one that is deeply integrated with its global sustainability vision. Antoni’s leadership is expected to accelerate efforts in areas such as customer accessibility, local employment generation, and environmentally responsible retailing.
As IKEA strengthens its presence in India, the company continues to prioritise inclusive growth, job creation, and consumer-centric innovation. With Patrik Antoni leading the charge, the company is well-positioned to deepen its footprint and offer high-quality, affordable, and sustainable solutions to Indian households.
