According to sources, the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI), an Indian vaccine think tank, met to discuss immunization protocols for 5-12-years-old children but did not bring to any conclusion.
Members of NTAGI reviewed data from vaccine manufacturers for 5-12-year-old children but no decision regarding the expansion of the program to the younger group was taken.
Last month, regulatory agencies approved two vaccines for use in 5-12-year-old children, Serum Institute's Covovax and Biological E-made Corbevax. However, the NTAGI will decide on whether these would be used in India’s Covid-19 vaccination program.
