Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the highly anticipated sixth-generation E-Class long-wheelbase (LWB) in India. The luxurious sedan, which has been a favorite in the Indian market, now starts at Rs 78.5 lakh for the E 200 petrol variant, while the E 220d diesel version is priced at Rs 81.5 lakh. For those seeking a higher-end model, the top-of-the-line E 450 4Matic comes with a price tag of Rs 92.5 lakh. Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that deliveries for the E 200 variant will begin this week, with the E 220d expected to hit the market around Diwali and the E 450 model available from mid-November.
India is notably the only country where the long-wheelbase version of the E-Class is offered in right-hand-drive format, further highlighting the importance of the Indian market for Mercedes-Benz.
The new E-Class is Rs 2.5 lakh more expensive than its predecessor and commands a premium of Rs 5.6 lakh over its direct competitor, the BMW 5 Series, which starts at Rs 72.9 lakh.
