Global streaming giant Netflix has expanded its production infrastructure in India by launching a new office for Eyeline Studios in Hyderabad. The new facility highlights Netflix’s long term commitment to India’s rapidly growing animation visual effects gaming and comics ecosystem while creating new opportunities for VFX professionals. The move also aligns with the government’s ambition to generate millions of jobs in the country’s creative industries by the end of the decade.
Netflix officially announced the launch of a new facility for its production and innovation arm Eyeline Studios in Hyderabad on March 12. The move represents a major expansion of the streaming company’s global production network and underscores the strategic importance of India in Netflix’s future growth plans.
The Hyderabad facility spans around 32,000 square feet and will operate as a fully integrated part of Eyeline Studios’ global network. The studio will support advanced visual effects, virtual production and next generation storytelling technologies used in film and television production.
With this launch, Hyderabad becomes the fifth global hub for Eyeline Studios, joining existing facilities in Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seoul and London. The company also maintains a smaller operational unit in Mumbai.
Netflix described the Hyderabad centre as an important step toward strengthening its production capabilities and expanding global collaboration across creative teams.
According to the company, the Hyderabad studio represents a long term investment in India’s Animation Visual Effects Gaming and Comics AVGC ecosystem. India has increasingly emerged as a major destination for animation and VFX services due to its large pool of skilled artists and engineers.
The facility is expected to strengthen India’s position in the global production pipeline by embedding cutting edge production technologies within the country’s creative industry.
By building infrastructure in Hyderabad, Netflix aims to make India a core node in its global content creation network. The studio will help deliver high end visual storytelling while enabling collaboration between international production teams and Indian VFX specialists.
This expansion comes at a time when India’s government is pushing for rapid growth in the AVGC sector. Authorities have set a target of generating two million skilled jobs in creative industries by 2030, encouraging global media and technology companies to invest in the country.
The new facility was inaugurated by Anumula Revanth Reddy, the Chief Minister of Telangana. Several prominent officials and industry figures attended the launch event including Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju and Telangana’s Minister for IT Electronics Communications and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu.
Also present at the event were Jeff Shapiro, CEO of Eyeline Studios, and Indian actor and film producer Rana Daggubati.
Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted the synergy between Netflix and Hyderabad’s global reputation as a technology and entertainment hub. He stated that both the city and the streaming platform have created international opportunities for talent and innovation.
Reddy noted that the partnership would further strengthen Hyderabad’s standing as a leading destination for film production, technology development and the AVGC sector.
In a video message during the launch event, Ted Sarandos, Co CEO of Netflix, emphasised India’s growing importance in global storytelling.
Sarandos described India as one of the most dynamic creative markets in the world, with an impressive combination of artistic talent, technical expertise and large scale production capabilities. He also acknowledged the government’s focus on expanding the AVGC industry, particularly its goal of generating millions of jobs by the end of the decade.
According to Sarandos, the global demand for sophisticated visual effects and production technology continues to rise as filmmakers create more ambitious and visually complex stories. He stated that Netflix wants a greater share of this innovation and creative output to originate from India, powered by Indian talent and production expertise.

When evaluating potential locations for expansion, Hyderabad quickly emerged as a strong candidate due to its robust technology ecosystem and well established film industry. Shapiro noted that the city provides a powerful blend of engineering capabilities, creative talent and film culture. These factors make it ideal for developing long term production infrastructure.
He also emphasised that the talent pool in Hyderabad and across India possesses both artistic skill and technical expertise required to produce cutting edge visual effects.
The new Eyeline Studios campus in Hyderabad will feature state of the art infrastructure designed to support next generation visual effects and virtual production.
According to Netflix, the studio will include advanced generative visual effects technology supported by a hybrid cloud infrastructure. This technology allows artists and engineers to collaborate across global teams while managing large volumes of digital production data.
The workspace has been designed to encourage creativity, collaboration and employee well being. The facility will also enable seamless integration with Eyeline Studios’ global production network.
Netflix plans to recruit highly specialised VFX professionals and technical experts from India, providing opportunities for artists, engineers and digital creators to work on global film and television projects.
Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju highlighted Hyderabad’s significance in the world of cinema. He noted that the city, known for blockbuster productions like Baahubali, already holds an important place in global storytelling. According to him, entertainment sits at the intersection of advanced technology and creative storytelling. The arrival of Eyeline Studios further strengthens this connection.
Telangana IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu also emphasised that Netflix’s decision reflects international confidence in India’s creative workforce. He said the government is actively focusing on skill development programs to build a strong talent pool in VFX animation and related creative technologies.
Indian actor and producer Rana Daggubati reflected on Hyderabad’s transformation over the past two decades. He recalled that around 20 years ago opportunities in advanced film technology and visual effects were limited in the city.
However the rapid development of film studios technology companies and global collaborations has turned Hyderabad into one of the most promising creative hubs in Asia. Daggubati expressed confidence that the arrival of Eyeline Studios will open new career opportunities for young artists filmmakers and digital creators who aspire to work in the global entertainment industry.
