The Government of India has confirmed that all domestic oil refineries are operating at 100 percent capacity, ensuring a steady supply of petroleum products across the country. During the briefing, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, confirmed that piped natural gas (PNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) supplies across the country remain unaffected.
She highlighted that the government is making every effort to maintain uninterrupted supply for the approximately 1.5 crore households that rely on PNG for cooking and daily needs.
CNG supply for vehicles is also continuing without any restrictions. Authorities noted that maintaining these supplies is a key priority because millions of households and transport systems depend on natural gas as a cleaner and more affordable fuel alternative.
Officials reassured consumers that distribution companies have been instructed to ensure consistent availability and avoid any disruptions in delivery.
While officials acknowledged that liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) remains a sensitive area due to its widespread use in households, the government clarified that there is no shortage at present.
According to Sujata Sharma, none of the country’s approximately 25,000 LPG distributors have reported a “dry out” situation, meaning that supply levels remain stable.
To meet daily demand, around 50 lakh LPG cylinders are currently being delivered across India every day. This large-scale distribution effort ensures that households continue receiving cooking gas without disruption.
Additionally, the government revealed that domestic LPG production has increased by around 30 percent, helping strengthen the supply buffer and reduce pressure on imports.
Authorities continue to closely monitor the situation and maintain contingency plans to handle any potential disruptions in global energy markets.
