Meta has officially announced a new software update (v21) for its AI-powered smart glasses, introducing some of the most anticipated features just ahead of the holiday season. The latest update brings enhancements focused on clearer conversations, Spotify-powered music discovery, and overall usability improvements, making Meta’s smart glasses more practical for everyday use.
With this update, Meta continues to position its AI glasses as functional wearables rather than novelty gadgets, targeting real-world scenarios such as commuting, social gatherings, and noisy public spaces.
One of the most notable additions in the v21 update is Conversation Focus, a feature designed to help users hear conversations more clearly in loud surroundings. The feature suppresses ambient noise while enhancing the speaker’s voice, ensuring a better calling and listening experience for both parties.
Conversation Focus relies on a combination of audio processing and hardware built into the glasses.
It helps in amplifying the voice of the person while talking
It will reduce background noise
It uses open-ear speakers, which are built into the glasses
This makes the feature particularly useful in environments such as restaurants, trains, busy streets, or crowded events.
Users can fine-tune the voice amplification level based on their preference. Adjustments can be made by:
Swiping directly on the smart glasses
Changing settings through the connected smartphone
This allows for a personalised listening experience without interrupting ongoing conversations.
At present, the rollout of Conversation Focus is limited and available only to early access users.

Meta is expected to expand availability to additional regions and users in future updates.
Meta is also rolling out a new Spotify integration with Meta AI, creating what the company describes as the first multimodal AI music experience for smart glasses.
Users can activate the feature using a simple voice command:
“Hey Meta, play a song to match this view.”
The smart glasses use computer vision to understand the user’s surroundings and combine it with Spotify’s recommendation system to play music that fits the moment. This allows music selection to be influenced by what the user is seeing in real time, rather than manual browsing.
The Meta AI + Spotify feature will be available in the English language across multiple countries, including India.

Meta’s phased rollout strategy allows it to test features at scale before expanding availability.
With the introduction of voice amplification and smart music discovery, Meta is strengthening the real-world usefulness of its AI glasses. These updates improve day-to-day scenarios such as commuting, social interactions, and outdoor activities.
The v21 update reinforces Meta’s vision of AI glasses as a hands-free, context-aware wearable, blending communication, entertainment, and AI assistance into a single device.
