Mercedes-Benz has officially confirmed the launch of the all-new E-Class long wheelbase (LWB) model in India, scheduled for October 9. This marks a significant event for luxury car enthusiasts as the new-generation E-Class LWB, internally codenamed V214, is set to make its debut. Deliveries of this sophisticated sedan are expected to begin around Diwali later this year. The sixth-generation model will replace the outgoing E-Class, which has been on the market since 2017. Notably, India will be the first right-hand drive market to receive the new E-Class in its LWB form, showcasing its advanced features and enhancements.
The new E-Class LWB exudes refined elegance with a host of visual upgrades. It features a distinctive front grille adorned with intricate chrome embellishments, including a series of three-pointed stars. The sedan’s front end is complemented by sleek LED headlight clusters, a broad front fascia, and sculpted character lines on the hood that contribute to its commanding presence on the road.
From the side view, the E-Class combines traditional design elements with contemporary sophistication, drawing comparisons to the grandeur of a Maybach. The design is further accentuated by the elegant rear quarter window glass. The vehicle sits on robust 18-inch alloy wheels, enhancing its authoritative stance. Additionally, the new E-Class LWB is 13 mm taller and 14 mm longer than its predecessor, with a 15 mm increase in the wheelbase. These dimensions bring the sedan closer to the luxury standards of the S-Class.
At the rear, the E-Class features sleek wraparound tail lamps with star-shaped LED internal elements and a striking chrome strip that spans above the lights. A touch of chrome is also present on the lower part of the rear bumper. Buyers will have the option to choose from five exterior color options.
The interior of the new E-Class LWB is designed to offer exceptional comfort and cutting-edge technology. The cabin is highlighted by a 14.4-inch central infotainment system and a dedicated 12.3-inch infotainment display for the front passenger. Digital air conditioning vents with customizable and savable settings ensure a premium climate control experience. The sedan also boasts a high-quality 17-speaker, 730W Burmester sound system and a convenient selfie camera. Other features include four-zone climate control, wireless phone chargers for both front and rear passengers, and a panoramic sunroof.
Rear seat passengers are treated to enhanced luxury with an extended 40 mm thigh support for superior comfort. The Chauffeur Package is available for those seeking additional luxury, offering an electrically adjustable front passenger seat. Practicality is also considered, with a spacious 510-liter boot capacity providing ample room for luggage.
The new sixth-generation E-Class will continue to offer two engine options. The petrol engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit that produces 201 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque, while the diesel engine is a 2.0-liter unit generating 194 bhp and 440 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox as standard. Additionally, the E-Class benefits from a 48V mild hybrid system, which provides an extra 23 bhp and 205 Nm of torque for up to 30 seconds, enhancing performance and efficiency.
With these updates, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB promises to deliver a blend of luxury, performance, and advanced features, setting a new benchmark in the premium sedan segment.
