News Synopsis

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country’s leading automobile manufacturer, delivered a strong performance at the TV9 Auto9 Awards 2026 by winning three prestigious honours. The company was recognised for its contribution to road safety, exports, and consumer preference, reinforcing its leadership in India’s automotive sector.

Maruti Suzuki Honoured as ‘Road Safety Champion of the Year’

Maruti Suzuki India Limited received the ‘Road Safety Champion of the Year’ award at the TV9 Auto9 Awards 2026. The company also won Export Champion of the Year and Viewers’ Choice Car of the Year, securing awards across three different categories.

The awards were presented by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, who attended the event as the chief guest. The award on behalf of Maruti Suzuki was received by Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited.

Maruti Suzuki Accounts for 50% of India’s Car Exports

Maruti Suzuki alone contributes 50 percent of India’s total car exports. Responding to a question at the Auto9 Awards stage, Rahul Bharti highlighted the company’s long-standing legacy and sense of responsibility towards the nation.

He stated that Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to quality and technology remains uncompromised despite intense market competition. The company ensures six airbags as standard even in the base variants of its most affordable cars, a key factor behind winning the TV9 Road Safety Champion award.

Several Maruti Suzuki models have achieved 5-star safety ratings in Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP. Additionally, the company runs nationwide programmes focused on education, evaluation, enforcement, and emergency care training to improve road safety in India.

Maruti Suzuki Named Export Champion of the Year

Apart from road safety recognition, Maruti Suzuki was awarded Export Champion of the Year in the four-wheeler category. The company is India’s largest car exporter and exported a record 3.95 lakh vehicles in 2025, maintaining its leadership position for the fifth consecutive year.

Maruti Suzuki is expanding its global footprint to over 100 countries, supported by the export of electric vehicles such as the e-Vitara and models like the Fronx, which is sold globally under the name Across. This strategy aligns with the ‘Make in India, For the World’ initiative.

Viewers’ Choice Car of the Year Award

Maruti Suzuki’s recently launched compact SUV, the Victoris, was awarded Viewers’ Choice Car of the Year at the TV9 Auto9 Awards 2026, further strengthening the company’s recognition among Indian consumers.

Maruti Suzuki’s Role in Strengthening Road Safety

Maruti Suzuki received awards in three categories due to its continued focus on road safety and driver competency. As part of a unique and first-of-its-kind initiative, the company has introduced Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTT) across India.

These tracks have significantly improved the driving licence issuance process by ensuring that only skilled and qualified drivers receive licences. The ADTTs are developed in collaboration with state governments and are equipped with high-definition cameras.

Driving Licence Process Made More Transparent

Under this initiative, driving tests are recorded in real time and evaluated using analytical tools, making the licensing process more transparent, fair, and effective.

So far, Maruti Suzuki has automated 45 driving test tracks across Delhi, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. This technology-driven model has now emerged as a national benchmark for an unbiased and efficient driving licence system, with efforts underway to expand ADTTs across more regions to enhance road safety nationwide.
