Maruti Suzuki India has officially entered the battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment with the launch of the e Vitara in India. The country’s largest carmaker has introduced the electric SUV with an introductory Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) price of Rs 10.99 lakh for the base variant, along with a battery usage cost of Rs 3.99 per km.
Bookings for the e Vitara are now open at Rs 21,000 through Nexa showrooms and the official Nexa website.
The Battery-as-a-Service model separates the battery cost from the vehicle’s upfront price. Customers pay:
Rs 10.99 lakh (introductory) for the base vehicle
Rs 3.99 per km as battery usage cost
This BaaS price excludes statutory levies such as road tax, insurance and TCS.
By removing the battery cost upfront, Maruti aims to lower the acquisition price of the EV and make electric mobility more accessible.
The e Vitara is available in three variants:
Delta
Zeta
Alpha
Variant-wise pricing is yet to be announced.
The SUV comes with two Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery options:
49kWh
61kWh
