Maruti Suzuki ended 2025 on a high note, with the Baleno emerging as the best-selling car in December, while the Dzire claimed the top spot for the entire year. At a time when SUVs dominate the market, the success of a hatchback and a sedan highlights the continued importance of affordability, mileage, and trust among Indian buyers.
The Indian car market witnessed a major achievement for Maruti Suzuki at the end of 2025. While Baleno topped monthly sales in December, the Dzire became the highest-selling car of the entire year.
In an era of rapidly growing SUV popularity, the dominance of a premium hatchback and a compact sedan is considered remarkable.
This success story is not just about sales numbers, but also about Indian customers’ preference for fuel efficiency, value for money, and brand reliability. Amid rising inflation and cost pressures in 2025, Baleno and Dzire proved that trusted, mileage-focused cars continue to lead demand.
In December 2025, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno emerged as the highest-selling car in India.
Baleno sales: 22,108 units
It outperformed several popular SUVs, including:
Maruti Suzuki Fronx: ~20,700 units
Tata Nexon: ~19,400 units
This clearly indicates that demand for premium hatchbacks remains strong despite the SUV boom.
Looking at full-year sales, Maruti Suzuki Dzire claimed the crown as India’s best-selling car of 2025.
Dzire total sales in 2025: ~2,14,000 units
It even surpassed popular mid-size SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, which recorded sales of around 2,01,000 units.
This marks only the second time a sedan has topped annual car sales in India — the first being Dzire itself in 2018.
Baleno price (ex-showroom): ₹5,98,900 to ₹9,09,900
Dzire price (ex-showroom): ₹6,25,600 to ₹9,31,300
After revisions in GST rates, Maruti Suzuki reduced:
Baleno prices by up to ₹86,100
Dzire prices by up to ₹87,700
These price cuts played a key role in boosting demand for both models.
Both cars are known for their excellent fuel efficiency, a major deciding factor for Indian buyers.
