Mahindra & Mahindra has unveiled its much-anticipated Born Electric range of SUVs – the XEV 9e and BE 6e. These electric vehicles (EVs) mark the beginning of a transformative chapter in the Indian EV industry.
Both SUVs are built on Mahindra's INGLO modular EV architecture, which also made its debut during the launch event held at the Mahindra Research Valley near Chennai.
The introduction of these cutting-edge SUVs highlights Mahindra’s dedication to revolutionizing electric mobility with advanced technology and sustainability. Let’s dive into the details of these impressive vehicles.
The XEV 9e and BE 6e are powered by advanced 79kWh Lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, offering MIDC-certified ranges of 656 km and 682 km, respectively. For WLTP-certified ranges, the figures stand at 533 km for the XEV 9e and 550 km for the BE 6e.
The vehicles also support fast DC charging of up to 175 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes.
The BE 6e features bold and aerodynamic styling, closely resembling its concept model. Key design elements include:
C-shaped LED daytime running lights
Illuminated logos
Split spoiler and full-width wraparound LED taillights
A high-deck rear with a coupe-like roofline
However, the rear seat visibility might be slightly compromised due to the narrow window line.

Indicative on-road prices in Chennai are Rs 21.90 lakh for BE 6e and Rs 23.59 lakh for XEV 9e.
Deliveries are set to commence in a phased manner, with dealerships receiving the vehicles by January 2025, followed by customer deliveries in February-March 2025.
