News Synopsis

Mahindra & Mahindra has elevated the safety and feature set of its popular Scorpio-N SUV by introducing Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in its top variant and launching a new mid-range Z8T trim. The new additions aim to offer a more tech-rich and secure driving experience while catering to a wider audience.

Scorpio-N Now Equipped with Level 2 ADAS

The top-spec Z8L variant of the Scorpio-N now comes with Level 2 ADAS, making it one of the few SUVs in its segment to offer such advanced safety technologies. The ADAS suite includes:

  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

  • Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB)

  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go

  • Smart Pilot Assist

  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

  • Lane Keep Assist

  • Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR)

  • High Beam Assist

These features are designed to enhance driver awareness and assist in preventing accidents, especially during highway journeys and dense urban traffic scenarios.

Two New Safety Features in Mahindra’s ICE Lineup

Alongside ADAS, Mahindra has also debuted two new features in its internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle range:

  • Speed Limit Assist: Notifies drivers when the vehicle exceeds posted speed limits and allows cruise control to be adjusted accordingly at the press of a button.

  • Front Vehicle Start Alert: Alerts the driver through visual, audible, and haptic signals when the vehicle ahead starts moving, boosting reaction time in stop-and-go traffic.

These additions complement the Scorpio-N’s existing 5-star Global NCAP safety rating, reaffirming its position as one of the safest SUVs in its class.

New Z8T Variant Introduced for More Choices

To further widen the Scorpio-N’s appeal, Mahindra has launched a new Z8T variant, positioned between the Z8 and Z8L trims. This new mid-tier offering includes several premium features such as:

  • R18 diamond-cut alloy wheels

  • 12-speaker Sony audio system

  • Front camera & front parking sensors

  • 6-way powered driver’s seat

  • Ventilated front seats

  • Electronic Parking Brake (EPB)

  • Auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror (IRVM)

The Z8T aims to provide a balance of luxury and value, making it a strong choice for buyers who want more than the standard Z8 but do not want to stretch to the top-spec Z8L.

Competitive Pricing for Z8T and ADAS Variants

The pricing for the new Scorpio-N trims remains competitive across both petrol and diesel powertrains, and with both 2WD and 4WD configurations:

  • Z8T petrol manual starts at Rs 20.29 lakh (ex-showroom)

  • Z8T diesel 4WD automatic goes up to Rs 24.36 lakh

  • ADAS-equipped Z8L variants range between Rs 21.35 lakh and Rs 25.42 lakh (ex-showroom)

This pricing strategy ensures that Mahindra’s Scorpio-N remains a compelling value proposition in the premium SUV segment.

Powertrain Options Remain Unchanged

The Scorpio-N continues with the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine options:

  • Turbo-petrol engine:

    • Output: 200 bhp @ 5,000 rpm

    • Torque: 370 Nm (manual), 380 Nm (automatic)

  • Diesel engine:

    • Output: 172.4 bhp @ 3,500 rpm

    • Torque: 370 Nm (manual), 400 Nm (automatic)

    • A lower-spec diesel (130 bhp, 300 Nm) is also available with manual transmission only

Both engines are available with manual and automatic gearboxes, along with optional 4WD systems, maintaining Scorpio-N’s reputation for off-road capabilities.

Celebrating Three Years and 2.5 Lakh Customers

Mahindra is marking a milestone of three successful years of the Scorpio-N in the Indian market, having sold over 2.5 lakh units. With the introduction of ADAS and the Z8T variant, Mahindra reinforces its focus on safety, innovation, and customer-centric design.
