India and South Africa are set to clash in the second ODI of the three-match series at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Wednesday, December 3. After securing a thrilling win in the opening match, India will look to extend their lead and push towards clinching the series.
In the series opener at Ranchi, India defeated South Africa by 17 runs in what turned out to be a high-intensity contest. Virat Kohli’s 52nd ODI century formed the backbone of India’s impressive total of 349, while Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul contributed important half-centuries.
Despite losing their 19th consecutive ODI toss, the Indian team made the most of their opportunity with the bat. Rohit and Kohli stitched together a crucial century partnership, with Rohit setting a fresh milestone for most ODI sixes. After reaching his hundred, Kohli shifted gears, and Rahul’s explosive finish guided India to a formidable score.
South Africa’s chase began on a shaky note as Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh claimed early breakthroughs. However, the visitors recovered through a blistering 26-ball fifty from Marco Jansen and a late charge from Corbin Bosch.
South Africa stayed in the hunt until Bosch’s wicket fell with 18 runs needed off the final over, ending the innings at 332.
