Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit India on December 4–5, 2025, to attend the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit. During the visit, he will meet PM Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu to review bilateral ties, discuss regional and global issues, and strengthen the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.
The government of India has officially confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay a State visit to India on December 4 and 5, 2025, at the invitation of Narendra Modi.
The visit will centre around the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit, underscoring the continuing diplomatic importance of the relationship between the two countries.
During his visit, Putin will hold high-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In addition, the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, will formally receive him and host a banquet in his honour.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the visit will offer both nations an opportunity to review the progress made in their bilateral relations. It will also serve as a platform to chart the future course for strengthening the “Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.”
Leaders from both sides are expected to exchange views on a range of regional and global issues of mutual interest, reinforcing their cooperation amid shifting global geopolitics.
Some media reports suggest that defence and security cooperation may also feature on the agenda, including possible discussions around additional procurements and cooperation.
The India–Russia Annual Summit is a long‑standing mechanism under which the Prime Minister of India and the Russian President meet alternately in India and Russia to assess and advance bilateral ties. The upcoming summit will be the 23rd of its kind.
Over decades, the partnership between the two nations has been described as “special and privileged,” underlining deep cooperation across political, defence, energy, trade, and cultural domains.
