Hyundai has officially introduced two new mid-level variants to its Exter SUV lineup in India: the S Smart and SX Smart trims. These additions aim to provide customers with a feature-rich experience without crossing into premium price territory. Available in both petrol and CNG configurations, these variants offer a broader range of choices for budget-conscious Indian buyers.
The newly launched Exter S Smart and SX Smart variants are available with multiple powertrain options. Customers can choose between a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and a CNG-powered version. The petrol engine produces 82bhp and 113.8Nm of torque, while the CNG version generates 68bhp and 95.2Nm. A five-speed manual transmission is standard across both fuel types, while the petrol variant also offers a five-speed AMT for added convenience.
Hyundai has strategically priced the new Exter variants to attract value-focused customers:
S Smart Petrol MT: Rs 7.68 lakh
S Smart Petrol AMT: Rs 8.39 lakh
S Smart CNG MT: Rs 8.63 lakh
SX Smart Petrol MT: Rs 8.16 lakh
SX Smart Petrol AMT: Rs 8.83 lakh
SX Smart CNG MT: Rs 9.18 lakh
All prices are ex-showroom and represent a strong value proposition in the compact SUV market.
The S Smart trim packs several key features, including:

In a notable upgrade for family-oriented buyers, Hyundai has made ISOFIX child seat anchors standard across all Exter variants. This addition complements the already standard six-airbag safety package, further reinforcing Hyundai's commitment to passenger safety.
For tech-savvy users, Hyundai is offering a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system as a genuine accessory. It includes wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a reverse camera. Priced at Rs 14,999, this accessory comes with a three-year warranty and enhances the in-cabin experience.
Commenting on the launch, Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and COO of Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, "At HMIL, we are committed to democratising technology and making meaningful innovations accessible to a wider set of customers. The introduction of the S Smart and SX Smart variants on the Hyundai Exter is a reflection of this customer-centric philosophy."
